![]() | Diem Nguyen - Executive Directordiemnguyen@mqvncdc.org
Diem Nguyen is the Executive Director and Health Center Project Manager at MQVN Community Development Corporation. Diem provides leadership to the organization and is responsible for the development and day-to-day management of the organization in accordance with the guidelines set by the Board of Directors. She is also the current health center project manager, serving as the principal lead in all aspects of the health center. Through creating a partnership with Tulane University School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital, two bridge clinics have been established for the New Orleans East community. Diem attended Xavier University of Louisiana, College of Pharmacy, receiving her PharmD degree. Diem has clinical pharmacy practice experience at the institutional level at Lakeland Medical Center, as well as joint pharmacy cooperation between Xavier University and Tulane University in the Drug Information department. Her pharmacy clinical experience also includes internal medicine at Charity Hospital Medical Center and ambulatory care at St. Thomas Clinic in New Orleans. |
![]() | Tuan Nguyen - Deputy Directortuannguyen@mqvncdc.org MQVN CDC's deputy director is in charge of the internal day-to-day operations of the organization. Tuan also works to increase economic activity within the Village de l'Est community. He grew up in Village de l'Est, a small community in New Orleans East consisting of the most concentrated Vietnamese-Americans outside of Vietnam within a one mile radius. He graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Management. |
| Tap Bui - Health Outreach Coordinator and Community Organizertapbui@mqvncdc.org
Tap Bui is the community organizer and health outreach coordinator at MQVN CDC, serving to promote and connect MQVN CDC health projects to the local community and beyond. Her duties include working with the NOELA clinic and Tulane University in identifying and implementing community-focused health projects. Tap works with the community youth in youth-led projects such as the Community Mural, Youth Financial Literacy Workshop, and the Youth Internship Program. Tap is also a board member of the Intercultural Charter School. In light of the BP oil drilling disaster, Tap organizes the New Orleans East community to be unified and educates the community on the issues surrounding the disaster. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Health Sciences. She also serves as the Vietnamese/English translator and interpreter at MQVN CDC. | |
![]() | Tinh Bui - Technical Assistance Providertinhbui@mqvncdc.org Tinh Bui is the technical assistance provider and a member of the Workforce Development team at MQVN Community Development Corporation. He works to assist those affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling disaster to navigate the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) process, as well as plan and implement workforce developments to create jobs for these affected persons. He also serves as a Vietnamese interpreter on a day-to-day basis. Tinh received education from Delgado Community College and will pursue higher education in the near future. |
![]() | Hoa Nguyen - Social Service Providerhoanguyen@mqvncdc.org Hoa Nguyen has been an active community member of Village de 'Est since her family migrated to New Orleans. Currently, through her service, Mrs. Nguyen has helped community members register for Medicare/Medicaid, taken members to receive cancer screenings at St. Thomas Community Health Clinic, provided transportation for community members to the hospital, helped people apply for Food Stamps and Social Security benefits, translated for non-English speaking community members, requested FEMA hurricane assistance for community members, and informed members of current events pertaining to the Vietnamese community. |
| Daniel Nguyen - Project Managerdanielnguyen@mqvncdc.org Daniel Nguyen is the environmental justice coordinator and Viet Village Urban Farm Sustainable Aquaculture Park Project manager at MQVN Community Development Corporation. Nguyen is responsible for managing day-to-day developments regarding the Viet Village Urban Farm Sustainable Aquaculture Park, which includes produce sales and incubating aquaponics growers. Daniel also has experience organizing community farmers and fisherfolk to develop projects concerning workforce development and research concerning environmental justice issues. Currently, Nguyen is working with Washington State University (CoPI Scott Frickel) and Tulane University (CoPI Jeffrey K. Wickliffe) as a co-investigator on an NSF funded citizen science project and has organized interviews, surveys, community forums, and focus groups to identify community concerns, help facilitate the design of a community-driven research proposal, and helped collect shrimp samples for petro- and pyrogenic hydrocarbon (PAH) analysis. Nguyen has been invited to present for various organizations, including NeighborWorks. He is currently in training to become a certified Vietnamese medical interpreter with Reach NOLA. | |
| Khai Nguyen - Busineess Development Counselorkhainguyen@mqvncdc.org Khai Nguyen works with aspiring entrepreneurs in the community to assist with their ventures, including financial planning and projections. He also works with the Viet Village Urban Farm Sustainable Aquaculture Park project and its workforce development initiatives to create jobs for fisher folk who have lost their jobs due to the BP oil spill. Khai graduated from Tulane University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Management, concentrating on Consumer-Behavior. While he was at Tulane University, Khai received the Qatar Foundation Scholarship. | |
| Lac Nguyen - Project Coordinatorlacnguyen@mqvncdc.org Lac Nguyen is the Health Project Coordinator at MQVN Community Development Corporation. Lac’s responsibility is to assist the Executive Director Diem Nguyen with managing activities related to NOELA Community Health Center (CHC). She will help to oversee the expansion and construction of the new health center by being involved in the procurement process for Architectural/ Engineering and Construction Management services in compliance with the Community Development Block Grant Program. Lac also plays a role in implementing the Electronic Health Record System at the health center. In addition to her administrative involvement with NOELA CHC, she also is the Medical Records Coordinator and is a project coordinator for the diabetes management program called TARGET. Lac attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology. | |
![]() | Mai Tran - Case Managermaitran@mqvncdc.org Mai Tran, a native of New Orleans, serves as a Case Worker for MQVN Community Development Corporation. Her current position as a Case worker is to assist Gulf Coast residents who were affected by the oil spill.Her duties involves assisting community members in an array of social services such as Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security Insurance, Food Stamps, Unemployment Benefits and many more. She organizes and facilitates community forums and large group meetings in both English and Vietnamese. Mai also help youth in the community by providing mentorship and coordinating special projects with the Young Women’s Leadership Program (YWLP). She also served on the board of directors for The Vietnamese American Young Leadership Association (VAYLA) as the organization’s Financial Chair. Mai currently is pursuing a degree in Social Work. |
